Impairment of contraction increases sensitivity of epicardial lymph pressure for left ventricular pressure.

چکیده
In the present study, cardiac contraction was regionally impaired to investigate the relationship between contractility [maximum first time derivative of left ventricular pressure (dPLV/d t max)] and PLV on epicardial lymph pressure (Plymph) generation. Measurements were performed in open-chest anesthetized dogs under control conditions and while local contraction was abolished by intracoronary administration of lidocaine. Lidocaine significantly lowered dPLV/d t maxand PLV pulse to 77 ± 9 (SD; n = 5) and 82 ± 5% of control, respectively, whereas Plymph pulse increased to 186 ± 101%. The relative increase of maximum Plymph to PLV related inversely to the change in dPLV/d t maxafter lidocaine administration. Additional data were obtained when PLV was transiently increased by constriction of the descending aorta. The ratio of pulse Plymph to PLV during aortic clamping increased after lidocaine administration, from 0.063 ± 0.03 to 0.15 ± 0.09. The results suggest that transmission of PLV to the cardiac lymphatic vasculature is enhanced when regional contraction is impaired. These findings imply that during normal, unimpaired contraction lymph vessels are shielded from high systolic PLV by the myocardium itself.

Effects of Short-term Renovascular Hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes on Cardiac Functions in Rats
Background: The cardiac effects simultaneously occurring during experimental hypertension and diabetes have rarely been investigated. This study aimed at examining the effects of short-term renovascular hypertension and type 2 diabetes on cardiac functions. Methods: Five groups (7 each) of male Sprague-Dawley rats, including a control group, a diabetes (induced by Streptozocin and Nicotinamide)...
متن کاملCOMPARISON BETWEEN THE EFFECTS OF 5 PERCENT HYPERTONIC SODIUM CHLORIDE SOLUTION AND 0.9 PERCENT SODIUM CHLORIDE SOLUTION ON LEFT VENTRICUL AR CONTRACTION
Hypertonic saline solution can absorb part of the intracellular fluid volume into the extracellular space. The effects of this solution on the cardiovascular system are increased coronary flow and increased left ventricular contraction, without sympathetic system activation. This study was designed to assess the effects of hypertonic saline solution in open heart surgery and to compare it w...
متن کاملEpicardial deformation and left ventricular wall mechanisms during ejection in the dog.
Significant differences between epicardial and endocardial systolic stress in the wall of the left ventricle (LV) have been predicted by various models of LV mechanics. Yet a model incorporating transmural differences in fiber orientation and torsion, defined as a rotation of the apex with respect to the base around the long axis of the LV, predicts transmural equalization of stress and shorten...

Background:Cardiac rehabilitation program (CRP) is a useful method of modifying cardiovascular risk factors, improving life expectancy and quality of life in patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD). The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of cardiac rehabilitation on the pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP) and left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LV...
